Someone may go by Robert in one system but Bob in another. There may be multiple John Smiths in your data with the same birthdates. Resolving these to connect the right records requires the ability to use all available information, from birth dates to relationships, to correctly resolve identity.
There is no single algorithm that can resolve the challenges of ambiguous names, missing data, or multiple addresses. Resolving and untangling these to make sure the right records are linked and making sure similar but different records are not linked requires multiple algorithms, utilizing artificial intelligence, probability, graph theory, and information theory to create a flexible and robust platform.
